Senior Estimator

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Provide support in the pre-construction phase of a Construction Project
  • Manage the duties of junior estimators reporting to him/her
  • Price, administer, negotiate and analyze the various stages, methods and types of construction
  • Participate in tender closings, analyzing trade quotations for scope of work and qualifications etc.
  • Attend pre - tender site visits
  • Be well informed about all aspects of the construction industry, particularly current market conditions affecting the cost of construction, technological innovations which may improve productivity, contractual laws and obligations, material specifications, scheduling, regional variations affecting supply of labour and materials and modern construction methods
  • Other special duties as assigned
Requirements: 

 

  • 10 years estimating experience in the local market
  • Building construction experience
  • Good knowledge of the local marketplace, especially with regards to subcontractors
  • Sufficient knowledge of both labour performance and operations in order to accurately estimate costs for a specific project
  • Capable of producing detailed take-offs and pricing for all architectural and structural disciplines for Lump Sum bids
  • Capable of producing conceptual estimates based on limited, conceptual design information
  • Knowledge of preparing estimates for Construction Management and Design Build type projects is strongly desired
  • Familiarity with Timberline and On-Screen software packages is an asset but not a requirement
  • Very good communications skills.
  • Must be able to manage a team of estimators on larger bids
  • Basic scheduling skills are an asset
  • Be able to identify key trade contractors
